Activities beyond the former Massachusetts Watershed
Initiative Nashua Team that have been funded by EOEA include: ongoing
work of the Conservation Districts, Pure Water Stewardship Program,
Stream Teams, a wide array of monitoring programs, active environmental
programs with local schools, planning for growth projects in the
greater Gardner region and the Devens communities, many programs
of the Nashua River Watershed Association, and numerous projects
carried out across the watershed supported by town boards and citizens.
We can't possibly identify all of the projects here
that have been undertaken by stakeholders that contribute to sound
watershed management, but can put them in broad categories
there are active land management projects and habitat assessments;
protection efforts for riparian zones, water supplies, agricultural
lands and all kinds of open space protection efforts. This is added
to a wide array of educational and recreational opportunities, and
expansion and linking of trails between towns and across state lines,
making the Nashua Watershed a very special place.
Significant partnerships have been developed
by the NRWA with local businesses, individuals and non-profit organizations,
which can help make this Action Plan a reality. We invite you to
help raise awareness about the river, and participate in the implementation
of this plan to ensure a bright future for the Nashua River
Watershed.
