NRWA Greenway Walk on the Steamline Trail in Fitchburg

Saturday, April 19, 2014, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m
Steamline Trail, Rt. 2A/31 in Fitchburg

Join Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) Land Programs Director Al Futterman to explore greenway trails, those that run next to and near our brooks and rivers, during our series of six walks this spring and summer. Greenways protect our water quality as natural buffers for contaminants, as well as providing wildlife habitat and opportunities for recreation.  Our first walk in the series will be on the Steamline Trail in Fitchburg this Saturday, April 19, 2014, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.  The Steamline Trail is a 1.5 mile round-trip trail with a level hard-packed earthen surface, running parallel to the North Nashua River ending at the headwaters of the river (Flagg Brook). This short trail takes walkers through an area that is both beautiful and history-rich, where you can still see signs of the times when the power of the river drove the energy for Fitchburg’s mills.  This walk is free and open to the public.  The meeting place for the walk is the trail parking off Rt. 2A/Rt.31 in Fitchburg; view a Google map and directions.  Pre-registration is encouraged for planning purposes.  To pre-register, or for more information, please contact Al Futterman at (978) 448-0299, or email  Al.
