Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
NRWA River Resource Center, 592 Main Street in Groton, MA

A fascinating film about one photographer's mission to collect undeniable evidence of climate change in order to help all of us understand our world and make informed decisions. NRWA invites the public to a free screening of "Chasing Ice" the story of acclaimed photographer James Balog and his Extreme Ice Survey which used revolutionary time-lapse cameras in brutal environments to capture a multi-year record of changes in glaciers. This project pushed the limits on equipment, ingenuity, and the physical and emotional strength of the people involved. The film features beautiful images captured by Balog, known for his breakthrough nature photography in Survivors: A New Vision of Endangered Wildlife and seven other books, as well as his incredible images published by National Geographic. "Chasing Ice" won the 2012 Excellence in Cinematography Award at Sundance Film Festival. The film runs 75 minutes, and there will be time for discussion afterwards.
