Marion engages students in active discussion about the river's history, the importance of creating and preserving a greenway, and how students can make a difference. 1 hour River, Stream or Pond Investigations
Discover your own local water body using scientific technique and hands-on exploration. Students become scientists and participate in biological, chemical and/or physical surveys of the water resources at the school or other site. Activities include collecting and identifying aquatic insects, chemical water testing, and shoreline surveys. 1 hours River Creatures in the Classroom We will bring live aquatic insects to your class for a hands-on identification workshop. Students will sort and closely observe aquatic insects and other river creatures. The experience culminates in a lively discussion about river ecology, habitats, and the important relationship between the water's quality and the insects that live there. 1 hour Nonpoint Source Pollution and the Nashua River Watershed Students will manipulate a physical watershed model and discover how nonpoint source pollution - polluted runoff - affects waterways in the Nashua River watershed. We will discuss watershed protection methods and create imaginative solutions for non-point source pollution with a variety of interesting materials. 1 hour Schoolyard Ecology Discover the intricate ecosystems in your own backyard! Students explore their schoolyard or local environment as an outdoor classroom using a variety of hands-on activities.
