Nashua River Nature Ambassadors for Ages 8 to 12: NH February Vacation Week

Monday thru Friday, February 25 thru March 1, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Nashua Public Library, Chandler Wing Activity Room, 2 Court Street in Nashua, NH

This five-day program is offered for FREE to twenty Nashua students from ages 8 to 12 years. The Nashua River will once again provide the backdrop for exploration and learning with creative, experiential science and art activities that focus on rivers, watersheds, and the diverse plant and animal life dependent upon clean rivers for survival. During this week participants will become “River Ambassadors” and activism will be a key component of this program. Combining nature-based projects with stewardship activities teaches children the importance of protecting our rivers and empowers them to participate in local environmental protection.

Participants will:

  • Join in nature and science activities related to the river and watershed
  • Spend time outdoors every day hiking the river trails
  • Work on nature-based art projects related to protecting rivers and nature
  • Design a page for the first edition “River Ambassadors’ Guide to Watershed Protection” to be on display at the library!
  • Have TONS OF FUN!

This free program led, by the Nashua River Watershed Association, is sponsored by the Merrimack Conservation Partnership Grant Program. To register your child through the Nashua Public Library, go to the Library’s online registration page, or call the Children’s Room at (603) 589-4631. Registrants are expected to participate in all five days.
