Eco-adventures for Youth and Families: Exploration and Discovery
NRWA Eco-adventure programs are designed for youth and families looking for guided exploration and adventure at local conservation areas. These programs offer science investigations, the mastering of outdoor skills, team building activities, and time for quiet observation and free exploration. Each Eco-adventure, or series of Eco-adventures, is designed for a specified age group and carries a theme such as animal habitat in local parks or nature journaling which combines outdoor observation time with fine art and writing.
Eco-adventures for young people are offered after school and during school vacations. NRWA’s Summer Survival Skills program for young teens is a popular program that features a day of paddling, hikes to investigate a variety of ecosystems such as forests and wetlands, and ongoing practice of skills for safe outdoor adventuring. Eco-adventure programs can also be tailored to the needs of homeschoolers, scouts, and youth groups.
Eco-adventures for families are offered on weekends with the goal of encouraging families to discover and enjoy the natural wonders of our watershed together.
