Family Workshops: Exploring the Outdoors Together

The NRWA’s family workshops are created to be engaging, informative, and fun. We love to see the whole family get outside and explore the watershed throughout the seasons. Our themed workshops teach basic outdoor skills like animal tracking, backyard birding, and maple sugaring. They also include nature-based activities that are entertaining and easy to do using simple materials found around the home. We’ve had workshops on nature scrapbooking and bluebird nest box building. We also offer family walks like our Night Hike, a chance to learn about nocturnal animals, or our Leave It to Beavers walk to view beaver dams and lodges and to learn about these talented engineers. Our workshops can even included a guided family paddle on the Nashua or the Squannacook Rivers.

Environmental Education Programs for Adults

The best decisions are made by well-informed decision-makers. Our education programs for adults seek to provide the most current science presented by leaders in the fields of natural resource protection, land management and stewardship, land use planning, wildlife biology, eco-friendly landscaping, and other fields relevant to our mission. We also offer general interest presentations by notable authors, local historians, arrange for screenings of relevant documentary films, and lead guided walks and birding trips. These programs are generally free and open to the public. We also present professional workshops for foresters, planners, and teachers.

Our adult education programs offer solid science, reliable presenters, and an opportunity for conversation with a community of well-intended individuals, and we believe that will lead to good choices about ways to protect our natural resources today and into the future.
