DESCRIPTION: This engaging art and nature focused program Participants ages 10-16 years will develop their sense of place in nature using various art media including drawing, painting, and collage to explore the wonders of the natural world more intimately. This program encourages a shift “from screen time to green time” while providing NRWA naturalist support and guidance, artistic materials, and unstructured time engaged in observing and interpreting nature through the artistic mindset.
NRWA naturalists will lead this free 3-part “Art + Nature +Teens = Fun” workshop featuring the local plant and animal life with a focus on close observation of how living things connect and are interdependent. Time will be set aside for discussion about the participants’ thoughts on the future of the natural world, and the concepts of climate change & nature resiliency will be explored in each session. Art projects will incorporate either 2- or 3-dimensional designs using recycled materials and natural objects. All programs will include hands-on experiential learning tools, some outdoor exploration time, and a diverse selection of art materials for creative use.
